I fear that soon no other kind of phone can be my phone other than the HTC Dream. All my future phones are slowly morphing into sleeker, smoother, very similar smartphones with flip out keyboards, touchscreens and APPS APPS APPS galore. All this marvelous syncing with all things Google is only making this worse.

Dependency is a very bad thing.

I also fear that I am losing that battle against the urge to Spend Money Online again. Just received 4 new Threadless tees and I've already spent most of yesterday eyeballing a variety of handphone cases and spent about 7 hours of today having my mind (and potentially wallet) blown by Gmarket, a Korean ebay that SHIPS TO SINGAPORE AFFORDABLY and IS IN ENGLISH.

Oh Yusof, you come and go so fast.

But seriously. Gmarket is beyond awesome. It's like having widespread access to the mega-hyper-Godzilla-of-online-shopping Rakuten. Except everything's Korean and usually cheaper. Hubba hubba. Mucho Overload.

And then there's money I need to set aside for Big Night Out 2010, maybe The Killers and definitely Lion King & Chicago. And Taiwan trip money which I need to start ferreting away into sekrit places beyond my own grabby fingers.

The moolah is never enough. Alas.

1. Mr Postman
There is nothing quite as marvelous as getting stuff in the mail.

In less than 2 weeks, I should be receiving my package from beNippon (with the Grace Door drama CD, a BL magazine and an origami book by the Great Kawasaki). In a bit more than 2 weeks, my order from Rose Melody should arrive, fitting perfectly and looking as marvelous as a brand-dress for a third of the price. (After close consultation with the Almighty Rox, I decided it was Worthy Purchase and Thus Went Forth to Purchase) By the time Uni starts (and I still know absolutely nothing about the course and campus), Luke should also be here in Humid-As-Hell Singapore, after which we will have a long and beautiful life together and prance away into the sunset, heading Japan-ward.

Yes, very marvelous.

2. Poverty & Flight
Which means I'm feeling slightly impoverished at the moment. Only slightly, if I don't lose my head and fortune in impulse fits, All Will Be Well and I'll even have money to spend in Taipei next month. Yes, the folks and I are off to Taipei. It would have been S. Korea but because Kim Jong Il is such a bloody bastard, pissing everywhere and everyone off, not to mention threatening to pitch bombs toward the Fair South, it has become a bit Dangerous For The Moment. At least until he and all his cronies/family members die painfully from food poisoning. Sigh, we live in hope. Meanwhile, I will simply send loud psychic FUCK YOU and DIE NOW PLEASE messages over to N. Korea.

2b. Long Lines
Oh yes, and I went to the Line at Shangri-la for lunch today, grandmother's birthday and all. Utterly stuffed and I haven't needed to eat since we stopped at 2.30pm. Although, I don't really think it's worth it at 80 bucks a person. The quality was...alright so unless you stuff your face with seafood, sashimi and little desserts, it is unlikely to be Really Good.  (The seafood was though, Canadian oysters and all. Tragic that I can't stand the flavour. Give me snails drowned in Garlic Butter! 30 down the gullet, no problemo.)

3. The Future
My resolve about the Moolah is unlikely to last long seeing as Kino has a 20% members discount again from 13th to 28th June. OHOHOHOHOHOHO. Definitely the most Worthwhile Privilege card to have. (Unlike Borders where you have to pay for membership which merely enables you to pay REGULAR STORE PRICES instead of bizarrely extortionate ones. DISCOUNTS ARE FIGMENTS OF YOUR IMAGINATION IN BORDERS.) KINOKUNIYA ALL THE WAY. \m/ (insert headbanging)

And now, to bed. So I can rise at an indecent time for the sake my health.

23 May 2009 @ 07:01 pm
A whole 5 days since my last post. Haven't been so lurkeresque in a while. Although I have been posting *some* nonsense at my work blog. (Can't bloody access LJ. Well I can via LJgate but it makes everything really ugly and tedious.)
  1. MY MISSION for the weekend is to be A Hurricane of Change. Yes, my room floor will be clear. My cupboards will be neat. My table will be practically clear. And I would have accomplished all the 600 odd crafty things I want to do this weekend. YES I CAN. I WILL.
  2. Met up with Wani and Pei Ting yesterday while in mourning Garb for Adam losing the Idol title (Read: Platforms, heavy liner, EGA wear, OH YEAH although the weather here makes it more like OH-ZARK-I-HATE-THE-WORLD.) Was good catching up and yakking and....
  3. SPENDING SHITLOADS OF MONEY AT KINO. Yes my friends, it was one of those Magical Periods when Kino does their 20% off for all members. I think I've more than covered the membership costs already what with four volumes of Sandman, 2 issues of Gosurori and a very very very very mild BL manga. Apparently Kino has stocked up on JUNE (Boy Love stuff). Wani found about 7/8 different ones on the shelves (and you'd be lucky to find 3 on any given day).
  4. I HAVE DISCOVERED THE ORIGINS ON THE BEAUTIFUL MERCHANDISE PURCHASED IN JAPAN. 8D The stickers of the lovely men are of Hakuoki, a PS2 Visual Novel from Idea Factory. I hear the gameplay/story tends to suck major ass but the ART IS TO DIE FOR. The other one is Sweet Pool, a PC Visual Novel from Nitro+Chiral. It's under the Boy-Love category but is completely unlike the typical game for girls. It is plenty gory, has completely depressing endings and has a dark, dramatic and fairly complex plot/concept. Actually the concept is pretty cool and I really wish it had been a manga/anime instead of a game.
  5. I actually downloaded the Game and changed my entire PC to Japanese just to try playing it. Gave up after 15 mins of mindless clicking to scroll through dialogue WHICH I DON'T UNDERSTAND AT ALL BECAUSE GUESS WHAT! IT IS IN JAPANESE.
  6. Fucks. I am even more determined to become fluent in the language now.
  7. I am also highly determined about MOVING AWAY FROM SINGAPORE. To Japan.
  8. The Japanese do everything better.
  9. I'm getting the flag for my room door.
  10. Which reminds me, I've gotten my pictures back and will put some up soon. A few came out pretty. Although next trip I'm carrying a digital as well so I can take a hundred million photos of everything and everywhere and come up with a massive 360 panorama for my room walls or something.
  11. AHHHHHHHH THERE'S STUFF EVERYWHERE AND SO MANY THINGS TO DO.
  12. I MUST STOP. OOGLING. MOITIE. ALL. THE. TIME. It is a path that leads to poverty, madness and destruction. (And one HELL of a diet.)
  13. I cannot wait for Lambert's album to be released and COMPLETELY OWN KRIS ALLEN AHAHAHAHA. Because I can just see Monkey Boy released a bland pop album while Adam seeks out some edgy label that will let him do whatever the Hell He Wants. I Like.
  14. Also, MICHAEL JOHNS! JUNE 23RD. IT MUST COME SOONER SOONER SOONER.
  15. ALSO, VERSAILLES, NEW SINGLE. I am trying to be psyched about it. It's hard when most J-Rock vocalists fall oh-so-far-below the Brilliance of Gackt.

11 May 2009 @ 12:01 am
Of course after every good trip there is the Amazing Haul of Treasure to be catalogued and lovingly accounted for. In addition to the stuff in the photos, I have a BL novel (WTF IS MY LUCK I WANTED A GRAPHIC GRAPHIC GRAPHIC NOVEL NOT A NOVEL NOVEL), Fuji Shinnithi's reprinted doujin compilation (FMA stuff, ROYxED oh yeah) and things bought for other people.

The prizes for this trip are the clothes (CLOSET CHILD=HEAVEN) and shoes which I won't post pictures of until they are properly coordinated and worn about the town. Suffice it to say that I have a new pair of FIERCE black platform shoes, FIERCE mid-calf maroon boots (although maroon can never sound hardcore), BlackxPurple Onitsuka Tiger sneaks, a Miho Matsuda long vest and knee-skirt, Moi Meme Moitie High Pants and Long Skirt as well as a red and black striped Bodyline Shirt. An amazing haul it is. Happy out of my mind I am.

Fangirling and Photos )

15 February 2009 @ 02:24 am

Today, or rather Yesterday, was completely wasted with chasing after things in the wrong places and surfing the Net in search of inspiration. Not happy. I will not touch my blasted computer tomorrow until I've sewn myself blind.

And since I have so many pretty pictures, [info]rocklemon</lj> is being Gackt-ified.
(If I had my way and the Money to Do So, I'd have a massive laminated wall collage of the Man as well. Which by my estimate would be about 100 bucks to print. Perhaps some kind soul out there does mass-lamination for free.)

This time in IE so that the alignment of things will look normal to Most People. [info]goldtoast</lj> is also going to be done up but probably with something British instead of Japanese.

EDIT: HOMG I AM GOING TO HAVE 16 T-SHIRTS IN THE MAIL. INSANITY, PEOPLE.

Why hello there.
Yes I am back from Bangkok, been back since 8.30pm Friday evening.
Suffering from some bizarre form of post-Holiday withdrawal symptoms which involve avoiding computers, spamming movies and being One with the Couch.

Bangkok is quite Brilliant )

So brief summary, better food, better music, better shops, hotter people, friendlier people, better prices, better culture. WTF AM I DOING IN SINGAPORE AGAIN. Oh right, being a broke-ass jobless bum who can only afford to window shop, worry about University and spam gorgeous photos of beautiful boys who will never be sighted in Real Life. Nice one.

I leave you with a crack photo, all you retired scholars of 'A Clockwork Orange':

My feet are tired.
And my half of a sore-throat is evolving into a full-blown one 12 hours and 3 lozenges later. (Who the Hell gets HALF a sore throat?!)
Quick Recap so the next entry can be more focused.

Dinner with Mike
Baked dinner rolls that actually look, taste and feel like Bread *shine of triumph*
Planning to actually cook a meal tomorrow
Explored every inch of Causeway Point
Did NOT even attempt to do the same for Vivo
FLARES FROM TOPSHOP, YES I LOVE EVERY INCH OF THESE ANTI-SKINNY JEANS

2 sets of PJs that are beyond awesome from La Senza

(If you're thinking about the offensively frilly stringy things used to floss arses or transparent lacy abominations, WRONG SECTION. I dwell in dorkdom aka Traditional and Sensible Pajama Land)
Still job-hunting because I'd rather not be stuck behind a desk AT BLOODY 18 THANK YOU
Finished the purple fleecy gumdrops with wings
Working on Aunt's shop site. PHP, PHEAR ME.
Planning to set-up shop at Very Very Soon

Learning Japanese from scratch because I remember NOTHING that is helpful in daily conversation
Doing the Korean Alphabet. Slowly.
Still watching 'I Am Sam', episode 11 of 16 I think.
