And what d'ya know, I actually believe that American Idol is getting better by the year. AI5 gave us Daughtry, Elliot Yamin and, of course, Taylor Hicks.

AI6 was some kind of tragic disaster though with Melissa Dolittle NOT winning the title she so deserved. (And everyone else was so MEH) AI7, however, had Michael Johns, Carly  Smithson and the two Davids.

This year, AI8 brings us Adam Lambert (and Good God, there has never been any like him), Danny Gokey, Alexis Grace, Allison Iraheta and yes, Anoop Desai (redeeming Asia from the horror that was Sanjaya). I have never rooted for so many in a given season my good people. Certainly, they have their flaws (and are not always good performers) but it is finally no longer about Good Singing. Everyone can Sing Their Pants (and Mine) off. It's about craft and canniness and being clever about what you do. WHICH IS GENUINELY ENTERTAINING INSTEAD OF LISTENING TO PEOPLE SCREECHING ABOUT IN VAIN.

But enough for now, AI deserves a post of epic proportions and I SHOULD BE UNCONSCIOUS.
